Helpful Resources

Did you know international students have the same rights at work as everybody else in Australia?

WHAT IS THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ENGAGEMENT STRATEGY?

International students are a priority for the Fair Work Ombudsman and the Strategy shows its commitment to improving your employment experiences in Australian workplaces.

The aim of the Strategy is to make sure you are getting the right pay and conditions at work. The Fair Work Ombudsman will do this by working directly with your student representatives and stakeholders, like your education provider, to make sure you have information about your rights at work, as well as improving the tools and resources it has available to you.

OPEN LETTER
  • Natalie James, the Fair Work Ombudsman has written a letter to international students. The letter encourages you to seek help from her office if you experience issues while working in Australia.
  • It’s important you understand that all employees in Australia, including international students have rights in the workplace, and that the Fair Work Ombudsman has free services to help you.
  • You can ask the Fair Work Ombudsman for help with confidence and without fear of your visa being cancelled.
